Luck didn’t fall in the Chicago Bulls’ favor Tuesday night in the NBA draft lottery at McCormick Place. The Bulls didn’t land a top-four pick — and as a result, they won’t have a first-round pick at all this year. They must relinquish their first-round selection — which wound up being No. 11 — to the Orlando Magic as the final stipulation in the 2021 trade for center Nikola Vučević. The pick was top-four protected in this year’s draft. The San Antonio Spurs received the No. 1 pick, which they almost certainly will use on highly touted French prospect Victor Wembanyama. The odds were never in the Bulls’ favor — they had only a 2.5% chance of landing the No. 4 pick, a 2.21% chance at No. 3, a 1.98% chance at No. 2 and a 1.8% chance of getting the top pick. The structure of the draft lottery created a wide chasm between victory and defeat for the Bulls. They could not receive any pick between No. 5 and No. 10, limiting t...Orioles keep Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout at bay in 7-3 win over Angels

For the second straight game, Anthony Santander — who before this series had never played first base in the major leagues — started at first, while Ryan Mountcastle did not play in the field for the second day in a row. Before the game, manager Brandon Hyde said he was simply giving the 6-foot-3 power hitter a rest. “I’m sure he’ll be in the game at some point,” Hyde said Tuesday afternoon.Mountcastle not only got into the game Tuesday night, he tallied six bases in his two plate appearances, including a 433-foot, two-run home run in the sixth inning that gave the Orioles a 7-3 lead they would not relinquish. That marked the second homer from a Ryan hitting in the No. 9 spot for Baltimore as lefty Ryan O’Hearn went deep in the second inning. Once Angels right-hander Chase Silseth was replaced by a lefty in the fourth, Mountcastle entered the game and left his mark. With the win in front of an announced crowd of 13,244, the Orioles improved to 2...Democratic primary for Philadelphia mayor becomes tight contest between 2 of 5 front-runners

A tight race to lead the nation’s sixth-largest city was unfolding in Philadelphia on Tuesday as voters navigated a crowded field of Democratic candidates in a contest that centered on how to combat gun violence and quality-of-life issues that make people feel unsafe.Former city council member Cherelle Parker and former city controller Rebecca Rhynhart were in a close contest as early votes were counted. The city was just beginning to count in-person ballots that were cast on Tuesday, which could sway the results. The Philadelphia race serves as the latest barometer of how residents of some of the nation’s largest cities hope to emerge from the pandemic, which heightened concerns about crime, poverty and inequality. The results have sometimes been tumultuous in other parts of the country, leading to the defeat of the incumbent mayor of Chicago in February and the ouster of San Francisco’s district attorney last year.Philadelphia voters will choose between front-runner candidates incl...Small businesses out hundreds of dollars after GTA event company files for bankruptcy

HARRISBURG, Pa. WASHINGTON (AP) — Bungled applications to eavesdrop on a former aide of then-candidate Donald Trump. Flawed research by a former British spy tasked with a sensitive, and political, assignment. And an FBI scrambling against the election-season clock to untangle suspicions about foreign government collusion that it feared could have grave national security implications.A 306-page report by Justice Department special counsel John Durham is refocusing negative attention on one of the most politically significant investigations in FBI history: the probe into whether Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign was conspiring with Russia to tip the outcome of the election. The findings aren’t flattering for the FBI, with Durham asserting that it rushed into the investigation without an adequate basis and routinely ignored or rationalized evidence that undercut its premise. The report catalogs a series of errors — though many were already documented years ago by a separate Justice Departm...Latest news
