Long Lake man charged with murder in fatal shooting

LONG LAKE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Hamilton County man has been charged after a shooting. Patrick Skerrett, 65, was charged with one count of murder in the second degree.The shooting took place around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2. Police said Patrick was in a verbal altercation with Terrance Skerrett, 64, of Lewis, when Patrick fired a gun. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! Terrance was pronounced dead at the scene, and an autopsy determined the cause of death to be shotgun and gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen. FLORISSANT, Mo. – Rodney Elijah Lewis of Florissant has been charged with four counts of stealing motor vehicles. St. Louis County police claim Lewis was operating a tow truck without proper licensing and was involved in taking cars without authorization.Court documents allege Lewis was working with a partner who claimed to have consent from property owners to tow the vehicles. However, police claim that Lewis and his partner went on to sell the vehicles to a salvage yard and split the proceeds.One of the allegedly stolen vehicles was found in the parking lot of a Circle K near Interstate 70 and Lucas Hunt. Police state through court documents that the vehicle owner was working inside the gas station when their Ford Explorer was stolen by Lewis.The other three vehicles were reportedly taken from areas near the Lucas Hunt Village apartment complex. (KRON) -- Dense fog is expected throughout most of the Bay Area Monday night and Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service said. Fog was cited as a factor in a fatal crash in Mountain View on Monday morning. (KRON) -- South San Francisco police arrested a man for driving under the influence after the man was allegedly seen asleep behind the wheel of his car at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Miller Avenue, South San Francisco Police Officers said.Police responded to reports of the 21-year-old man from San Bruno asleep in the driver's seat of his Ford F-150. Officers said they boxed the truck in. The man then woke up and accelerated, ramming into two of the police cars surrounding him, officials said. Officers also said the suspect rammed into a light pole near Grand Avenue and Miller Avenue, knocking it down.Officers were able to safely remove the driver after the crash by breaking through the passenger side window. The man was treated at San Francisco General Hospital.
